The Theme of The Speech: "Universities of the future: from digitization to individualization"
Digitization is now having an impact on almost all areas of society. Universities also are affected by these fundamental transformation processes.
But how could it look like - the university of the future? And what requirements does digitization place on universities, processes of university strategy and university policy? In my speech I would like to present the central results of a research project. The project "Universities of the Future" at the FernUniversität in Hagen, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany (BMBF), dealt with these aspects in a qualitative survey of experts. The project regarded digitization not only as a technologically driven phenomenon, but also as a social and cultural phenomenon. In my speech, I will outline results concerning future studies and reflect on the extent to which the potential of a "digital turn" for individual learning can become effective.
